A Special and Authentic Coastal Maine Summer Vacation Experience at Flood’s Cove

Flood’s Cove offers a variety of affordable oceanside cottages, all uniquely different, but something for every taste. Depending on which cottage you choose, you could find yourself in the Barnacle which is situated on the beach and about twenty feet from the water at high tide or secluded up in the woods in an authentic Log Cabin with a private beach and surrounded by beautiful views of the ocean and Flood’s Cove.

Imagine, perhaps, staying in the Defiance which literally sits over the water or the Barnstable that sits back at the edge of the woods and at the highest spot in Flood’s Cove with a beautiful vantage point to see for miles out over the ocean.

Or, stay in a newly built Westwind with a huge wraparound porch and commanding views of the water, Flood’s Cove and the magnificent sunsets looking west over Pa’s Island.

The Westwind Oceanside Cottage

The Westwind Oceanside Cottage

If your looking for a cottage more in the middle of all the action in Flood’s Cove, we offer the Bungalow with a very large screened porch looking out over Flood’s Cove and onto the water or a smaller, cozier version called the Birchview that is tucked back in a stand of pine trees with equally breathtaking views of Flood’s Cove and the ocean.

Not including the Westwind or the Barnacle, each cottage has its own custom made fireplace and hearth for those evening social get-togethers by the fire to play a game or two of cards, cribbage or backgammon.

Summer on the Maine Seacoast

As the early morning fog burns off in “the Cove”, enjoy the distant sounds of lobster boats hauling their traps, watch ospreys and bald eagles fishing for breakfast, and delight in the soft sounds of ocean waves gently lapping the shore. After a long day of exploring, hiking, swimming, fishing and boating, relax with a glass of wine and a few friends as dinner is prepared and the sun begins to set over the ocean with spectacular colors that cover the fleeting sky at dusk.

“We are not alone!” Venture outside after dark to see the pitch-black night sky filled with endless constellations and the occasional shooting star or start a game of cribbage or cards inside. The summer season at Flood’s Cove offers warm and sunny days on the water with blue skies and pleasant nights with a cool ocean breeze gently blowing past the window curtains. Flood’s Cove is a uniquely beautiful and truly peaceful oceanside vacation experience that will keep you coming back for years.

Fall on the Maine Seacoast

As the leaves begin to hint at the hidden gift of vibrant color to come, the vicissitude of the seasons reveals itself in spectacular fashion in Flood’s Cove. The angle of the sun creates a sea of a million diamonds as it reflects off the ocean’s surface and a palpable mood of quiet peacefulness allows a mindfulness of self and of the natural beauty that surrounds you in Flood’s Cove.

With sunny days still the norm, take a trip through the woods to the secluded “Beatrice Bay” at high tide and jump off the rocks into the ocean below or gather family and friends at the beach for an authentic Maine lobster bake with the rising tide. Break off a branch from a nearby tree and roast marsh mallows with chocolate and graham crackers for a “s’more” you will remember!

The fall is a magical experience at Flood’s Cove, with most of the crowds and hustle and bustle of the summer subsided. A quiet solitude offers an intimate opportunity to connect with family, friends or that special someone in front of the fireplace and share the changing of the seasons together in Flood’s Cove.
